Professional
When you have a physical problem that is structural in nature – be it back pain, joint pain, sports injuries, neck strain, or something else – there is a good chance Eve can help.
A lot of body issues thought to be dire and difficult to alleviate (sciatica, spinal stenosis, TMJ, or carpal tunnel syndrome, for example) can often improve dramatically with Eve’s approach. A Certified Aston Kinetics® and Aston-Patterning® Practitioner, Eve has been a fitness professional since 1987, and has devoted her professional life to training and practicing healing modalities.
As a bodywork practitioner, Eve is a licensed massage therapist in the state of Texas, and has received training in Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (Chikly method). In the areas of movement, she has certifications for Hatha Yoga (200-hour teacher certification), Aston® for Yoga, American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Training and Group Fitness Instructor. Her desire to help people is at the core of her work, and drives her results-oriented practice to this day.
Personal
Eve Chenu [pronunciation: “Eh-v” / “Shuh-noo”] was born in France, where she lived until she was 14 years old. An avid traveler, she has also spent time living in India and Japan, and has hiked, cycled, swam, and snowshoed her way through the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Belize alongside friends and family.
A lifelong athlete, Eve is part of a masters swim team in Austin. She also practices Qi Gong, and regularly runs and cycles around town. Over the years, her active lifestyle has helped her develop a special connection with recreational athlete clients, as well as individuals seeking to improve their level of fitness.
When Eve is not working with clients, traveling, or in locomotion, you can probably find her reading, gardening, cooking, or baking (usually healthy fare, although French pastries and sourdough bread are in her repertoire).
She holds a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She usually has some creative projects in the works, be it painting, photography, or mosaics.
Studio
Often described as “78704 Zen,” Eve’s studio is located in Austin’s beautiful SoCo area, 1 mile from Lady Bird Trail. Here, you’ll enjoy fresh tea made with herbs from the garden, and settle into a comfortable position on the massage table with pillows and folded towels, so as to better facilitate relaxation and precision in bodywork.
Massage lotions and oils are handmade by Eve herself, using pure botanical ingredients. During bodywork, you’ll enjoy these soothing blends, which are designed to ease conditions such as inflammation, tissue injury, skin irritation and bruises.
For exercise and movement, Eve and her clients employ mats, weights, balls, elastic resistance and other tools to identify movement patterns and develop stability and alignment. Both bodywork and exercise happens in a calm environment, with carefully curated music (often world or classical – though requests are always taken!) or no music at all: whatever works best to ease the senses, and prepare for the work.
Eve also makes house or office calls for ergonomic consultations; please inquire.
